Nerd Alert: Dell Mini 9 hack fest begins
So, decided to get a Dell Mini 9 on a 24 month contract through Vodafone. I’d heard good things about it and was interested in what I could get it to do. Loading OSX is the end game at this stage. Over the weekend got a bunch of things working on it. In no particular order. Upgraded the RAM to 2 gig. Took IE6 off  - yes incredible but it seems some machines are still coming out with IE6...

My New Friend Plywood
Today I made a new friend, plywood. Three great places with great names like Plywood City and Plyman are near to me with a wide range of ply products. Bendy ply needs more investigation. What can I do with bendy plywood? http://www.plyman.co.nz/ http://plytech.co.nz/ http://www.plywoodcity.co.nz

Web Stuff: Lots of New Twitter Tools
There seems to be a whole lot of activity at the moment aimed at coming up with services to accompany and improve the Twitter experience. RWW has been providing some great coverage. I’ve got to say it though, none of the current Twitter clients are really doing it for me. Still, the race is one. TwitterMass http://twittermass.com/ Twazzup http://www.twazzup.com/ Microplaza...

Web Stuff: Reputation Tracking Tools
Top 10 Reputation Tracking Tools Worth Paying For Quite a good summary of some contenders for review. List leaves out Omniture whose Site Catalyst tool can track also. Friend has used BuzzLogic and had good things to say about it. Picture of new Bats for Lashes album to brighten things up.

Super 14 Rugby jersey-swap →
extrafirmhold: Ok so this is  a site that’s just launched that my work did. Apparently Super 14 wanted to extend the rugby fanbase. And they did, if by fanbase you mean my penis, and extend you mean extend. EDIT: Have you seen the slo-mo replay? CHRIST NSFW. Tru-fax: the guy I sit next to worked on this. All day. For weeks. He’s gay now.

Budweiser Loses Trademark Battle
I remember asking an American a few years ago if he’d tasted the original Bud. He hadn’t, and he refused to believe that his precious Bud was anything other American. When Enough is Enough: Budweiser Loses Trademark Battle Against Czech Brewer of Same Name

Boxee
Yeah, I dunno. I’ve given Boxee a number of chances to work properly but it continues to crash. The look of the interface is quite nice, esp on the big screen, the usability though is questionable, and did I mention it keeps on crashing. I haven’t been able to download anything and nine times out of ten when I go to watch a recommended title it can’t find it. I’ll try again though next month...

The Biggest Loser Celebrities Line Up
I’m not a big fan of reality TV but the line up for NBC’s “The Biggest Loser: Celebrities” looks pretty impressive, there’s some big names in there. A reason to watch even. • Jason Alexander • Kirstie Alley • Roseanne Barr • Aretha Franklin • Artie Lange • Rush Limbaugh • Michael Moore • Rosie O’Donnell • William Shatner • Jessica Simpson • Sally...

Mobile TV
The Elgato Diversity finally arrived. Set up was sweet, found the Freeview channels, and off we went. Recording is easy the remote works but could do with a one-pager on what the buttons mean. You can convert recordings for your iPod and both of you who purchased Apple TV are also in luck. The aerials are well designed and have suction disks for attachment to windows etc. The EPG (DVB-S) works and...

A Trip Back
Look out for what promises to be a great trip dowm memory lane at the Point That Thing blog… From the intial postings it dawned on me I was either in Dunedin with no money or in the UK with no money while both local and overseas bands descended on Auckland during the eighties.
